FIELD NOTE ·
Share a piece without sharing private documents
A practical check before a collection photograph becomes a public post.
Check the full frame
Look beyond the item before publishing. Mirrors, parcel labels, screens and papers can reveal information you did not intend to share. Remove unrelated documents from the scene and make a new photograph where possible. Check reflections and the background as carefully as the centre of the picture.
Limit document photographs
A full receipt is rarely necessary for an outfit or detail post. If a document is relevant, conceal names, addresses, contact details and payment information before submitting it. Keep the original privately. Packaging or a receipt by itself does not establish the authenticity of the photographed object.
Use your own photographs
Submit photographs you made or have permission to publish. Avoid reposting somebody else’s listing as your collection. Remove faces and identifying details that are not needed for the post. Automated metadata removal is useful, but it cannot decide whether every visible detail is appropriate for publication.
